Discover the charm of your personal history with our bespoke old map of Tooting, London. Whether you’re a long-standing resident eager to glimpse how your neighbourhood has evolved, or you’re seeking a unique, thoughtful gift, this map is a captivating window into the past. Each map is handmade and tailored to your requirements, allowing you to celebrate treasured locations and personal stories through the fascinating landscape of Tooting’s earlier days.
Unfold the history beneath your feet with a map that covers the area around Tooting High Street, the tranquil Tooting Bec Common, the well-known St. George’s Hospital site, the bustling Tooting Broadway Market area, and the picturesque surroundings of the River Graveney. The map may reveal how these locations and their neighbouring streets appeared decades ago, offering a rare perspective on the streets, open spaces, and landmarks that have shaped Tooting’s distinctive character.
Personalisation is at the heart of this map. You can centre your map on a chosen address—perhaps your own home, a favourite pub, or somewhere with special memories. Highlight important locations with custom markers, add a heartfelt dedication, or even change the title and subtitle to suit a special occasion or inside joke. Each map is individually crafted, so your requested touches, however unique, can be incorporated.

Each map is carefully assembled to order, making it a striking and enduring addition to any wall.
This personalised map of Tooting is based on original Ordnance Survey maps, dating from the 1870s through to the 1960s. The historic OS maps were meticulously surveyed and engraved, renowned for their exacting detail and attractive hand-drawn aesthetic. They chart the transformation of Tooting across the Victorian, Edwardian, and modern eras, capturing features both lost and familiar. Our maps offer not just a decorative centrepiece, but a genuine piece of local history you can treasure or gift.
Please note you are purchasing a fully customised old map. Modern landmarks, such as your house, may not have been built yet! You can contact me to check if a certain location, landmark or feature is shown on this map.
Generally, larger maps look much better than smaller maps, because you can enjoy all of the smaller details. If you need a smaller map, I would suggest ‘zooming in’ so that the map covers a smaller area.
Because these maps are custom made to order, we can make you a map that looks great at at any size, from very small (8x10in/20x25cm) all the way to a few metres. If you are looking for a very large map, please get in touch.
The model in the listing images is holding the 18x24in (45x60cm) version of this map.
Every map can be personalised or customised, for example if you want to mark your house or street on the map. The fifth listing image shows an example of my map personalisation service.
This personalised map would make a wonderful housewarming, birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, Mother’s Day, wedding anniversary or work leaving gift for someone from Tooting, or someone who works there.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or on artist’s cotton canvas. Several frame choices are available for free, or custom framing is available for an additional fee. Please get in touch if you’re looking to order a very large map for a hotel or office, or if you’re looking for a size that isn’t available on my shop.
